NMMU Computer Science student, Jonathan Schmidt has developed an application for Windows Phone 7 called Wolfram 7 which has helped him earn third place in an international competition to develop applications for the mobile operating system.

Jonathan says “I used Microsoft’s Imagine Cup methodology of ‘Imagine a world where technology helps solve the toughest problems’ as a guideline during development, and it was the added motivation of a particularly difficult calculus problem that saw Wolfram start proving its capabilities,”.

Wolfram 7, uses the Wolfram Alpha search engine to return information on almost any topic and in response to almost any query.

Congratulations Jonathan!
